July 2019: Book of the Month
Oh, July, where did you go? With a lot of real-life things going on, I barely noticed that the end of the month was approaching again, but here we are already in August!
- The Nowhere Child // Christian White
- Der Gärtner war’s nicht // Tatjana Kruse
- Rückwärtswalzer // Vea Kaiser
- Die letzten Kinder von Schewenborn // Gudrun Pausewang
- The Woman in White // Wilkie Collins
- Ali und Nino // Kurban Said

This month, 4 out of the 6 books I read were in German; I read 3 male and 3 female authors, and books from 5 different countries. My favourite one of those? Rückwärtswalzer by Vea Kaiser! It gave me all the feelies, had a compelling story and lovable characters that I didn’t want to leave behind at the end of the book.
I also really enjoyed Ali und Nino and Der Gärtner war’s nicht. Sorry, nothing for you English-reading folks this time, although there is an English translation of Ali und Nino; and you should definitely ask your favourite publisher to get Vea Kaiser translated.

A-Countries... finished!
